Barbara Cole, whose work can be seen on Bau-Xi Gallery’s booth at Photo London, is a Canadian artist known for her ethereal underwater photography which emulates painting both stylistically and technically. Cole submerges herself, her models, her equipment, and her materials as she layers, builds, and blends her composition underwater. Her work utilizes the lens of water to explore and transform figurative qualities, and to re-envision the nature of our relationships to our surroundings.
Cole’s series tend to be crafted all within lens, avoiding digital manipulation as much as possible.
